So I get this call from a man who wants to book a session for his wife. His words, " I think my wife is the most beautiful woman in the world and on her birthday I want her to feel beautiful." This is when I wanted to ask if he was for real? Sooo sweet. He arranged a whole special day for his bride and mother of 3. Beginning with a photo shoot, a little spa attention, lunch and shopping. I'd say that sounds like a perfect day. We had a lot of fun at the photo shoot and she said she did feel pretty. Well in my opinion her husband was right not only pretty but beautiful!!

I know as Moms we don't often feel beautiful as we are cooking, cleaning, carpooling, etc... So if your up for it, let me help you find that beauty from the inside out capturing it for keeps. Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

Shoot and Share Weekend

Our First annual Shoot and Share Weekend was a success! We put together a weekend getaway for four photographers to learn, share, and shoot. It was a blast. Our two shoots were on Saturday in Downtown San Luis and on the beach at Montana de Oro. I have never done a formal "trash the dress" session and it was a blast. This bride was awesome. She wore her real wedding dress which was beautiful and was willing to do whatever we asked her. We started in gumball Ally in San Luis and ended the day with them laying in the waves on the beach. Very fun! Thank you so much to all the girls for a great weekend.

Hello everyone! Can't believe it is already March. I am loving this spring weather and the blossoms all around. I have been busy shooting lots of cute little ones as they hit some big milestones. This time of the year makes me want to picnic without my shoes in a field of greens. (random i know) but this is sort of the theme behind some of my upcoming shoots. We have been playing in orchards, blossoms, and wildflowers. I hope to share these with you soon.

If you are thinking of booking a session; don't forget that thanks to daylight savings we shoot well into the 7 o'clock hour after dinner. Have a wonderful week!

I had the privilege of shooting 4 little gents this last week. It was quite a day. Most photographers only show you the great stuff and make it look easy. Well I thought I would show you a couple of bloopers (with moms permission of course.) Sometimes I get the perfect subject who loves the camera, more often I get the child who hates the camera and only wants mommy. So whats a photographer to do? That's when my little embarrassing routine starts. It might be the Elmo song, badly impersonated voices from other cartoons, the Wrong rendition of twinkle twinkle, peek a boo, or any odd sound that my mouth can create. All to get a little smile or some sort of break in the grumps. All this to say it's not always as easy as it looks. One of the many great reasons why you stay with the same photographer who becomes familiar with your family. (That's my little marketing piece.)

Somehow we still got this. Little brother below loved the camera!

This little cutie didn't give me a smile until 50 minutes into the shoot. But he almost cracked here. Pretty sure I was singing the Elmo song.

Little Cameron is a natural. Love those eyes!The only downfall to having clients that are teething... they chew your props!

I just love Sleeping babies! Meet baby kenzie. This little jewel was awake and happy the whole shoot but we wore her out and she finally fell asleep as I was packing up to leave. I always hear the parents say, " This is so weird they usually sleep all the time, I don't know what's going on?" Well let me just say when the photographer shows up...nothing is normal. That's the fun part of my job, trying to get my subject to relax and be themselves regardless of the massive lens stuck in their face. Hence why I have some quirky things I do with the little ones. Baby Kenzie was a doll and so darn cute!

Oh this poor neglected BLOG... I'm back. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you all. I have truly enjoyed this holiday season. My children make it so fun. Driving around listening to my daughter grunt and squeal at any sign of Christmas lights. Even if it is just a street light. This Fall was a whirlwind but the best yet! We had the most amazing location for my two big weekends. Thank you Barsoom Family! 46 photo shoots since September, 1 wedding and over 30 Christmas Cards created and sent out. A Big thank you to Kelley Frese- working with you makes it no work at all! I had a blast with everyone and even though it's a busy time - I am already excited for next years shoots. If you have any connections for great locations I am always on the hunt.

As if this has not kept me busy enough my husband and I have been finishing our garage. So many of you who have been in my garage for shoots hear about the big plans... well now it's finally getting finished. Here is a before and after.

Sorry it has been forever since my last post. September rolled by quickly. So many little cuties. I love seeing how all these babies are growing. Becoming big brothers and sisters, sitting, standing, walking; so fun to watch. I honestly do feel like part of the family sometimes. I have had the opportunity to travel to many of my clients homes this last month and it is so great to see what everyone has done with the pictures. It makes me feel like I am doing something extra special when I see the memories filling your home. Love my job!

Well summer is officially over! It has been a whirlwind - My son turned 4, my daughter started walking, she got 6 new teeth, I competted in my first triathalon, and we were gone 11 weekends out of the summer 12. You may be re-reading to see if I actually said triathalon- yes I did but it was no Iron Man - The Hume lake triathalon. I do have to say that I beat my Hubby who I dragged into it with me. That's all I will say about that.

Summer has been great but now it is back to work. Fall is quickly approaching and so are the holiday shoots. I am pretty much booked with a little wiggle room here and there. The support from everyone continues to amaze me. You are all so awesome! You may have noticed a little change on my splash page. One square takes you to another BLOG called Captured and Created. This is the official home of all design products. Feel free to check it out. It is mostly a site for other photographers to purchase designs but you can feel free to check out what I am up to on the design end. Locations for the october and November shoot are still in the works. If any of you know a family with property, barns, orchards, etc... I am always on the lookout!

If you are taking pictures with me you will have the cream of the crop to pick from. I am excited to share those with you. I book up so fast and because of that I am taking a $30 reservation fee which goes towards your package - If you have to cancel within 2 weeks then I will be holding on to that $30.

So a normal occurrence at my house is my 13 month old trying to play in the fridge. Well... one night I walked around the corner and saw this, quickly grabbed my camera thinking how funny it was. "How cute, she discovered the chocolate syrup on the bottom shelf. At least she doesn't know how to open the cap." Little did I know she already took the cap off and was literally gulping the syrup down. She was quite disappointed the next day when she tried again and the terriyake marinade didn't taste as good Enjoy!

Busy May

It's been a little while since my last post although I do wonder if any one even looks at this! If someone is reading this I thought I would share some pictures from my busy May. Most people would say Christmas is the busiest time of the year but I would say May is. April ends with my birthday and leads right into my daughters- May 6th, Mother's day, Anniviersary, Memorial day Leading into 5 important birthdays all in the first week of June. Somehow I got to travel to ranches, vinyards, backyards, mountains, and good ol' downtown. Hope you like!

A Moonstone Adventure

Weekend at the beach! Memorial Day over at the beach has been a family tradition since I have been in high school. Family motto growing up has been,"A family that plays together stays together!" You never know what adventure is next - "little" bike rides that end up two towns away from the intended destination, dune jumping on hidden dunes, temporarily loosing my dog on the beach (thought she drown chasing the birds), rollerblading, playing on the beach, fighting the crowds at Firestone or Splash cafe, the list goes on. This weekend we traveled north past Cambria to go see the elephant seals (or slugs as we like to call them). They were pretty interesting. Watching them try and move down the beach was quite a site. After that we had a wonderful lunch in Cambria - Main Street Grill - yummy! Then it was off to Moonstone beach. A little stretch of beach that isn't sand - it is all little rocks. Moonstone rocks are the rare commodity there. These are the kinds of rocks that many jewelry makers love to use. We quickly found ourselves digging in the rocks to find the best of the best for our collections. Very therapeutic I have to say. Keeping the pebbles out of mallory's mouth was an adventure in itself. A little jump rope and some fun in the waves, it was a great day! I hope you all had a great memorial day weekend. CMP Summer Updates

Here are some new changes and updates for you.

1. New 10 day ordering policy!!! - (don't flip out)

I know we recently changed it to 90 days but that is not working. I am blaming this on my computers. All 3 are maxed out and there is not enough room to work. So we are solving this issue with a 10 day ordering policy for all pictures before they are archived. This way you are ordering your pictures and actually getting them when it is still current in your life. I know this will be a shock to you but I know it will be better for everyone in the long run. You can do it!

2. New Family sitting fee price - $200

Family shoots are usually twice as long and require a lot more from everyone. This package includes the DVD sideshow. So how do you define family? That's a tough one. I have decided that anything more then two children is twice the work so we will go with that So a family shoot can be defined as a family including parents up to 7 people or more then two children.

3. Fall Reservations: Yes I am already getting inquiries about fall shoots. My calender is not yet up so I am now taking fall reservations. I will be creating a couple packages including Christmas cards. At this time I have not finalized those details. If you now that you want to reserve a spot then shoot me an email and I will add you to the reservation list. Once the calender is ready those on the list get first pick of the dates. So time to think ahead!

4. I will be taking the month of August off . Too Hot for pictures anyways!

Sharing my Adventure

Hello everyone - yes I am back from paradise. We had a fabulous time and would highly recommend this trip to anyone. Ambergris Caye, Belize is a very relaxed place with great scenery, food, and diving. Central America for those of wondering where it is. We did 5 dives in all including the BLUE HOLE. (I feel like I should get a special patch for diving that one.) The Blue Hole is a dive desired by many divers around the world. It really was a once in a lifetime experience. The boat ride 2.5 hours out in the middle of the open water on a small boat was an experience in itself. Love the Dramamine! Then all of a sudden we felt like we were dropped right into a postcard titled "paradise." The dive was amazing, and terrifying all at one time. We dove to 150 ft with literally the abyss below us and to the side of us. I felt like Nemo's dad and Dory in the movie where they head down to find the mask that dropped. Then all of a sudden you see these huge stalagmites and stalactites. 20-40 ft long. Huge. Look to your side out in the water and sharks that look like baby great whites circling. Kinda crazy. I was pretty proud of myself for doing it and not freaking out! Truly once in a lifetime experience.

The other dives were incredible! The coral was huge and colorful - fish plentiful and lots of eels, rays, turtles, and sharks. I tried my first hand at underwater photography - sort of hard to get great composition as i float away. I tried. so I hope you enjoy a few pics from our latest adventure. I used the Canon G9 with a underwater housing - Love it!

Happy April! I have been waiting for this month. Lots of good stuff happening in the next 29 days. This month I am going to a workshop with my friend Kelley. We are having a girls weekend in Laguna learning from an amazing photographer and hopefully taking much away from it. Then when I get back I get to go on a romantic getaway with my hubby for a week in Belize. Soooo excited! We will be doing lots of diving and relaxing. Then the day after I get back on the 23rd is my big 3..0... Talk about a whirlwind of events. Somewhere in there I have 12 shoots. I'm crazy, I know but I love to pack it all in. So if I am taking your pictures this month the turnaround might be longer.

March was awesome - 14 shoots. So much fun. Senior have been a lot of fun. They actually do what you tell them to, instead of me chasing them around to get the shoot. Here is some from March.

This week we said goodbye to Grandpa Friesen (My husband's grandpa). It has been a sad week knowing that he will no longer be here for us to love on, but we are rjoicing in his homecoming with the Lord. Grandpa was so precious and his joy and laughter for life was so infectious. Here was a man that truly loved the Lord and Loved Life. Material possesions and money were of no importance. His Love for his wife was amazing. Over 66 years they have been married and they never cared to be apart. They actually cuddled all through the night as they slept (too cute). Grandpa started a business in 1965; Kustom Kitchens which my husband and his brother are 3rd generation taking over. That's why my phone says Kustom Kitchens when I call you. Love that Family Plan! If you ever need a new kitchen or just a washer and dryer we're your family. You can check us out at http://www.kkdi.com. We will be in the March Home Show at the fairgrounds with our mobile display. Anyways Grandpa was amazing and many lessons have been learned through his life. We will miss you Grandpa and we will see you again someday. Your legacy will live on.

Wow this poor BLOG has been a little neglected. Sorry to all of you who were anxiously awaiting an update. (just kidding).

Happy New Year everyone. I hope your Christmas was full of wonderful memories. I had a wonderful time with my family. It has been nice to have some downtime to just be lazy with the kiddos. Perfect time for me to get sick majority of the time. During my break I have photographed 2 weddings and a sweet little newborn. New years was spent in the middle of no where - the desert. Although I found a beautiful little treasure called The Penacles. (picture as shown). I actually read a wonderful book. Redeeming Love by Frances Rivers. I haven't enjoyed a book since ... well not sure when. The last books I have read were in my classroom at the 5th and 6th grade level. So to say it's the best book I have ever read might not do it justice. I am no Oprah but if your looking for a good one I highly reccomend it.

Ok as to the little rumor circulating...I am not going any where. Some people have heard that I am closing up shop. Simply not true. I am not taking as many appointments this spring as I do in the fall but that's it. Still here and loving what I do. Merry Christmas everyone! Vacation has officially started. I already burned my first batch of cookies (thanks to my dear hubby). Presents are wrapped and stockings still need stuffing. I love this time of the year. So many fun traditions that our family continues. My mother will be entertaining 49 of us this year for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Everything from cheese fondu to rice pudding, what would christmas be without yummy food. I will be taking on a few projects of my own I am excited to begin. Hello Fall! I used to dread this season when I was a teacher because it meant my vacation was over. Now that I stay home I have learned to really appreciate the little things. Cool mornings, big comfy sweatshirts with flipflops, apple cider, changing colors, homestyle cooking and fun holidays.

Fall also brings a busy time for photographers. Everyone starts thinking about those holiday cards they want to send out. My new website has been up for about a month and I already have over 1,000 hits! Woo Whoo! Crazy. Thank you to all of you who are sharing me with your family and friends. Business is great!

CMP holiday special will be announced soon along with my Christmas card gallery. Every year I offer a large variety of cards. This year I am simplifying the process a bit and offering my custom cards froml ast year with the new additions to this year. They are awesome!

Can't believe he is already three! Seems like yesterday I looked at him for the first time (after 23 hours of labor and a c-section). I'll never forget the first hours with him, how they change your life. The first moments where I actually realized I was someone's "Mom." Happy Birthday Micah!

New Website Up & Running

Yeah!!! It's finally up and running. I am so excited to have a new "fancy" site to display my work. Everything you need to know is on the new site. Under Details and Prices are all kinds of great info (prices were raised a bit). I even have my calender on there to show what's available. I hope you all enjoy it - so... Yes this means I am open for booking!!!!

Big News!

I am heading to the BEACH! On October 13th I will be sitting on a beach over in either Pismo, or Avila ready to take someones pictures. Want to come! First come first serve. I can take about 5-6 family's through the day. So excited. Please don't book unless you know you can make it. (Check those soccer schedules)

Saturday the 3rd of November I will be doing holiday shoot downtown. Really neat places downtown. I simply hop in the car and we take a little drive around the area popping out at different places I love to shot at. ( A fun wacky experience for all!) Book now if your inteested.

Newborns - There a lot of fall babies on thier way. Book now according to your due date so we can get you on the schedule.

My First Wedding!

I photographed my first wedding whereI was the main last saturday. It turned out great! The day went smoothly, the family was a lot of fun and I had the best help! Thanks Kelley & Preston. I wouldn't mind doing a few of these a year. Heres a few pics for you. Congratulations E & T!

Happy Birthday "K". This was too fun. It was like reliving my son's first birthday all over. He was literally hosed down afterwards. She loved her cupcake. Here's an oldie of my son Micah.

CMP update - So many people are trying to book up my fall and I think if I took them all now I would be booked through Christmas. To be honest I am little scared to open the flood gates. (I know such a problem to have) The fear, is that I really want to accomadate everyone but I don't want my daughters first year to go by and feel like I missed so much becauseI was so busy. So with that said... I haven't decided if I will be doing my crazy holiday shoot. I am seriously praying about hiring help. God's not given me any clear answers about that one yet. So I am going to try my best to keep my priorities in line while continuing to provide you all with beautiful memories.

Hello there and welcome to my BLOG! Hello?.... Anyone there?

This is my attempt to keep clients and everyone else up to date with life and the photography biz.. Never really done this before so we will give it a try. There will most likely be a lot of pictures of my own kiddos since I try not to exploit them on my website. (I do think they are my cutest subjects!)

Thanks for all the support through Mallory's birth. She is growing so fast and already 15 pounds at 12 weeks! It has been so fun to just enjoy her and the newness of a new little one.

I am excited about the new website launching. Should be soon. Most importantly- MUSIC!! I have my own little jukebox.

I am shooting a wedding this Sat so I am sure I will share some pics with you later.

So funny - Who the heck am I talking to on this thing. Is anyone out there? Do you even care? Well we'll see about that. Here she is!
